Italo Calvino, If on a winter’s night a traveler – interpretation

The project consists of two books: the first contains the text of the novel by Italo Calvino If on a winter’s night a traveler, in the second one there are visualisations of the information contained in the text – the data. Calvino’s novel has a frame structure in which we as the Reader, the main character, read ten more books contained in the main narrative, supposedly by different authors. Data visualisation seemed to me the perfect means to examine whether these ten novels are indeed the works of independent writers or whether the whole story is a hoax. This procedure also has a direct source in the Calvino’s text, in which the topic of computer-generated literature appears , as well as its statistical analysis.
